“We wish you a Merry Christmas,…
We wish you a Merry Christmas…”
Well, I realise that we’re a global site, and that not everyone celebrates Christmas,…so if that’s you – I apologize in advance for this post…
For the rest of you, I want to personally wish you a very Merry Christmas.
I know full-well it’s a challenging time of year at the best of times – let alone when going through a split.
Over the past decade, I’ve spent Christmas and New Year’s, more often than not, alone. So I can fully empathize with what many of the site’s members are experiencing in the run up to the holidays.
All I can tell you is that I always made the most of it – for example:
- I picked up my favorite food and made myself a feast.
- Always I had a selection of my favorite movies lined-up to watch too – e.g. “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “Miracle on 34th Street”.
- In the afternoon I’d go for a walk or a run on Christmas Day – with my music player playing some of my favorite songs (festive ones optional)…
- A personal favorite thing to do would be to take photographs around my neighborhood.
This year though, I feel blessed to be celebrating with my father in California (following his stroke a few months back). This really could have been a very different sort of Christmas for me – so to say I am grateful is an understatement.
As an added bonus his baby sister, my Aunt Dianne, flies in at 2pm from Texas. It’s the first time she’s come to visit us and the first time they’ve seen each other for the better part of fifteen years.
So yeah, I’m feeling blessed.
I just want to wish each and every you a wonderful Christmas – if you’re celebrating it.
If not, have a wonderful Friday. I plan to.
Oh one more thing…let me thank you all of you who visit So You’ve Been Dumped as you’ve made it such an amazing and supportive healing space on the web.
