SYBD: We’re Eleven Now, How’d That Happen?

Well the last time I wrote you, we were on the verge of our eleventh birthday and I’d hoped to be launching our new site (with mini forum). But life is what happens when we’re busy making plans, or something like that anyway. People with good intentions can sometimes disappoint, communication can go awry, resulting in paths changing.

When things like this happen, it’s our job to be flexible and go with the flow. Not my strong suit,…but grateful for the practice, I guess.

On the plus side, there is truth in the adage that says “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Really SYBD doesn’t need to be all glossy and prettified, because frankly, at the end of the day, that’s not what matters most on a site such as this.

Most people come to the site for some sort of support or advice. For that, this site is pretty enough as is (for now anyway).

Maybe we’ll change our “look and feel” this Summer – and maybe we won’t. Regardless of that outcome, last Monday marked our eleventh birthday, which as anyone who runs website knows is no small feat.

Due to all the stress of the pending re-launch the birthday was marked without any fanfare whatsoever. In fact there were times last weekend I felt like flicking the switch on So You’ve Been Dumped once at for all. My mettle has been tested more than enough in the last decade and I do sometimes wonder why I bother to keep it going.

The fact is SYBD is still here, still doing its bit to try and help the world’s lovelorn. Maybe not in the same way as it once was, but helping heartbroken men and women across the globe just the same.

In the next week or so, we’ll be unveiling our newest animation on my very own 5 Tips to Dumping Your Relationship. It’s a serious subject but delivered in an upbeat, engaging way. Look out for it before August rolls around.

I just sort of figured – over eleven years I’ve seen countless stories of people getting it oh-so-wrong, that I’d list a few suggestions on how to get it slightly better. Sadly, there has yet to be a pain-free way to ending a relationship, but when it comes to breaking up, some ways, times, and places are better than others.

So animator Ron is hard at work on the animation as I type this to you. Just today I saw the first tip and truly it’s pretty hilarious, (the guy’s a genius I tell you)!

So for now, in lieu of a mini forum relaunching – tell us how, when and where you were dumped. Or if you need a break up buddy, read this.

So there you have it. Here’s to the next ten or so years!
