The past month or two, here at HQ, have been all about projects on ‘How to Dump’.

One is an animated video How to Dump Your Relationship (Respectfully) by our top animator chap called Ron which was unveiled 48 hours ago and had over a hundred views already which is fun.

The other is what will arguably be an ebook (or at least a chapter) on the subject of ending a relationship – also the Golden Rule way.

You might think it rather strange to write such a topic on a site called So YOU’VE Been Dumped – but on closer inspection you just might realise it makes perfect sense. I mean who better to talk about how NOT to end it then the website that has seen just about every ending imaginable?

Day in day out we hear stories of how poorly people were dissed and dismissed from their relationships. Endings, more often than not, are handled in bad ways, at seemingly the most-inopportune time, and in the strangest of places.

No before you start, I know, there is seldom a good time or way to end it, only slightly less bad ways. I’ve yet to see a pain-free break up, even by those who claim to have, what on the surface are, amicable splits.

By and large break ups do have pain involved (on both sides), but naturally it is nearly almost always harder for the one who is forced to come to terms with someone else’s decision to walk away.

I know I’ve been on both sides of the dumping fence.

With a bit of luck the ebook (or whatever it is) on “Endings” will be ready for unveiling in the coming weeks.

It’s a light-hearted take on a rather challenging topic. If it will help just one person out there, who’s contemplating their split, to end it in a more positive, respectful way, then my job here is done.
